Central African Republic awaits for worlds help

About third of the country's 4.5 million people in Central African Republic need food and medical assistant. People have been cut off from all supplies.  Children are dying of diarrhea and other easily treatable diseases and injuries. 

Women win inheritance rights in Botswana

A Botswana court made history on Tuesday by upholding the right of women to inherit under customary law. In a case heard by the appeals court in the capital city of Gaborone.  It was asked whether daughters can inherit family property under customary law. Edith Mmusi 80 years old argued that since she lived in the ancestral family home, and she and her sisters had renovated it they should inherit it.  Her claims were challenged by her nephew that he is the one who should inherit it because he is male although he had never lived there.  The judgement made it clear that women are not second class citizens in Botswana.

France begins military operations inCentral African Republic

France begins military operation in Central African Republic. French military patrols in the Central African nation.  The operation will include security roads and main routes to allow people to be able to at least go to hospital.  68000 have fled to neighboring countries. 

Hundreds killed in Bangui capital city of Central African Republic

According to French Embassy in the central African Republic capital Bangui  nearly 400 were killed.  The government of Central African Republic was overthrown in March 2013 by Seleka forces. Since then muslim armed  groups are attacking and burning down christian villages killing and wounding large number of people. Hundred of thousands have fled their homes in fear.  

On Friday 6th December, Seleka commander Colonel Saleh took his fighters to the catholic church camp in which were 35,000 displaced christians.  His men fired into the crowded camp. 

It was the worst violence the capital has seen since rebels toppled President Francois Bozize in March and installed their own chief Michel Djotodia as president - the first muslim leader of the majority christian country. Most of the corpse are still laying uncollected in the streets.

Nine Prisoners killed in prison fight in Angola

Nine Prisoners were  killed and more than 20 injured during a brutal fight among prisoners at Luanda Central prison on Tuesday 3rd December 2013.  According to the spokesman for the prison service Menezes Cassome.  The  two received treatment in Neves Bendinha hospital and another was transformed to the central military hospital.  The incident tool place when a group of prisoners set fire to mattresses producing smoke inhaled by those prisoners. 

    

Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95

Nelson Mandela has died at the age of 95 at his home in Johannesburg.  He was born in 1912. He was the son of the chief. He was named  Madiba by his clan.  In 1964 was sentenced to life in prison. He spent 18 years of his 27 years in prison in Robben Island.  He became the first  African president in 1994.  He stepped down as a president in 1999. He won Nobel Peace Prize with F.W. De Clerk in 1993. South Africans has gathered in Johannesburg and Soweto to mourn their former leader Nelson Mandela. He last appeared in public during the  world cup in 2010. Pope honors Mandela for forming new South Africa. Flags will be lowered to half mast across South Africa amd in some countries like Tanzania, France, India and USA. He will be buried in Qunu- his birth place on December 15. May his soul rest in eternal peace,

100 prisoners starve to death in Zimbabwe prisons

MORE than 100 prisoners have died in detention in Zimbabwe's prisons since January owing to biting food shortages.

The poor state of the country's prisons was confirmed Monday by the Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services (ZPCS) which disclosed before a parliamentary portfolio committee that 100 inmates had died as a result of food stock outs and natural causes since the beginning of the year.

"It's true that we are facing challenges feeding our prison population. The death rate stands above 100 since the beginning of the year which is not a good figure," said Agrey Machingauta, the ZPCS deputy
