Police arrested sixteen illegal immigrants in Dar es Salaam

Police arrested sixteen illegal immigrants believed to be Ethiopians at  house which was under construction in Makongo juu.  Those immigrants were caught together with the person who was hosting them.  some residents in the area alerted the police  of suspicious movements in the house during the night. In that house there were bottles and buckets full of urine and feces.

Angolan teeneger held for insulting president released

A 17 year old Nito Alves who had been in prison for 2 months charged for insulting the president Dos Santos was released shortly after starting a hunger strike.

Breaking News: 40 feet container full of Ivory caught in Unguja this afternoon

40 feet container full of Ivory has been caught in Unguja island this afternoon.  The container has been transferred from Dar es Salaam by sea.  It has not yet revealed who owns that container and the exact value of those ivory.

Dr. Mvungi is no more

Dr. Sengondo Mvungi who was a member of the Constitution Review Commission in Tanzania, lawyer,Vice-Chancellor of  Bagamoyo University and presidential candidate in 2005 passed away on Tuesday at the Mil-park Hospital in South Africa.  Dr. Sengondo Mvungi was attacked, robbed and injured by suspected robbers at his residency on November, 2013.  The armed  robbers took his laptop, pistol, mobile phone and some money.  After the incident Dr. Mvungi was rushed to Muhimbili National Hospital at Intensive Care Unit before admitted to Mil-park Hospital in SouthAfrica.

Angolan teenager held for insulting president starts hunger strike

An Angolan teenager Nito Alves (17 years old) who has been in prison for two months awaiting trial for insulting president Jose Eduardo dos Santos has started a hunger strike to pressure authorities to release him. Alves was arrested on September 12 for printing slogans on t-shirts  called a president 'a disgusting dictator'.  Alves is a member of a youth movement which wants Dos Santos to resign.

Members of parliament in Swaziland praise King on their knees

Swaziland's new members of Parliament got down on their knees before King Mswati III to show him respect and one by one made a speech praising him.  This has to be done at the start of the new parliamentary in Swaziland.  Each MP is supposed to make a speech in less than three minutes telling the king how much he or she loves and respect him.

A five storey shopping under construction collapsed in Lagos

Three people killed and fifteen others injured and are in a critical condition when a five storey shopping complex under construction collapsed at 9, Muri Okunola street in Nigeria.  According to an eye witness he said that the building collapsed at about 4:00pm while construction works were still on going.  The building collapsed on the workers, some escaped unhurt while others are still trapped under the debris.  There were more than sixty people working at the site.

Mercy Johnson to be banned for being too expensive

Movie marketers are planning to ban (withdrawing of service) Nollywood  actress Mercy Johnson for being too expensive.  Mercy Johnson said she would not reduce her figures. Mercy charges between N1.8 - N2 million for her move role which is equivalent to 12,658 US dollar.
