Ellen Johnson Sirleaf wins Coveted Leadership Prize

Ellen Johnson Sirleaf the former president has captured the Mo Ibrahim prize for African Leadership.

Sir Leaf is recognized for her efforts to re-build her country following two civil wars.  Ellen took the country when it was completely destroyed by civil war. 

Previous winners of the prize are:  former Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba (2014), former Cape Verde President Pedro Pires (2011), former Bostwana President Festus Mogae (2008), and former Mozambique President Joaquim Chissano (2007). 

Nelson Mandela became an honorary recipient of the award in 2007.

Liberia's president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf met Costa Rican president Laura Chinchilla at the Costa Rican Art Museum in the La Sabana neighbourhood of Western SanJose on Monday 30th Of September, to discuss future relations between the two countries, international women's rights and the environment and peace.
